I edited a coming of age novel that is currently being published for AA Freda, (February 2017).
Relevant Work Experience:
I interned at Hodder & Stoughton, London, in 2016. I was tasked with a lot of proofreading, eBook checking against hardback copies, report writing, blurb writing, and manuscript reading.
Relevant Masters Experience:
I wrote three stories for my final year project book. In which I created the InDesign file for the book, and I illustrated the book, too. I edited the stories of the two writers in my project group. It was completed to a publishable standard.
I created an interactive eBook of ghost stories. It had hyperlinks, music that I mixed together, imaged that I had altered, and videos. I achieved a good grade for the work.
I illustrated a children’s picture book, including the design an layout of the storyboard. I first coloured the illustrations with pencil, and later I painted them. I photocopied the images and altered them on Photoshop to be added into the InDesign file.
I illustrated the front and back cover, contents pages, and chapter headings for a new edition of a much loved classic.
I took a copy-editing exam.
During both my English Literature degree and Masters in Publishing I wrote many essays and reports. I greatly enjoy the research aspect, as well as the academic writing.
Personal Blogging Experience:
This blog was written about editorial and production within publishing for a module for my Masters. It was a great opportunity to write about each lecture and to learn more about publishing through it.
I kept a personal travel blog to discuss various places I have been. It was connected to my personal Instagram page.
A travel blog was kept to track the travels of my brother and I. I added articles about Thailand, which included his YouTube vlogs. It allowed me to keep on writing while travelling.
I started blogging properly in 2012. I kept a blog on blog.com, which was used to write articles. However, blog.com no longer allows entry into the website and no longer displays it.
